The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations came into force in the United Kingdom in May 2008 but the law has hardly been used.
That was until last week when householder John Wigmore won a legal battle against double glazing firm Safestyle UK. The 63-year-old was tired of sales calls from salesmen knocking on his door. Despite repeatedly complaining to the company asking them to stop sales calls, the doorstep salesmen kept coming.
